Support Your Loved One with Disability

Applying for Social Security disability may be a annoying process for many people. The process of getting disability is long and tedious, full of paperwork, phone calls and includes visits to health care clinics and various medical tests. Although the government has imposed the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) that all the schools and employers have to follow, the disabled loved ones needs your help and support. Here is some basic advice if you want to help our disabled loved ones as they endure the process.

1) Physical Assistance. In case the person applying for has a physical problem like back-pain or pain in any other body parts, then it is advisable to support him in day-today activities such as you can help them with groceries, laundry, cooking work, and other everyday jobs that may be difficult. If the person is unable to drive or has some walking disability, then offering him help with transportation would be a great help.

2) Emotional Assistance. Providing an emotional support to the person applying is one of the best ways to help. You can take them to a counselling expert who can provide them with some influential help and counselling.

3) Financial Assistance. It can take many months or even years to get the disability benefits and this can affect his financial status. So, you should come forward and can offer your financial support.

4) Assistance with Paperwork. Social Security paperwork can be complicated and your assistance will be required.
